A black one will show the dirt faster than a white, but you are right: in the north where there is all the salt and snow, and it's likely to stay inside of the panels, black paint will cause the innards of doors and fenders to dry out faster than white. Then, of course, it would make more sense to "Ziebart" a white car than a black one. In the summer, a black one will oxidize more quickly than white because of the heat working on the paint, simply because molecules move faster the more heat there is. White reflects; black absorbs. I use black to catch more of the sun's heat in my solar pipes for heating the house at night. Water is a good medium for storing and transferring the heat to the space inside. You can probably touch the roof of a white car in the summer; not a black. I bought this guy's Karmann Ghia with a white roof; he said it was so hot inside in the summer that he painted the roof to make it more bearable when entering after being parked in the sun. Stanley

IMHO, a black one gets dull faster but a white one gets dirtier faster. I've had both (have two black ones now) and in this part of the world with all the salt and dampness, I think that black cars dry out faster and rust less. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Nighthawk Motorcycle Lovers!" group.
