Thanks Dennis. I checked the free play and it was indeed too tight. I loosened
it to a little over an inch with several turns of the adjusting nut and will
check it out on the ride to work tomorrow. Appreciate the help and have
certainly learned a lot from being a part of this group, especially from your
contributions. Safe Travels, Barge

Let me take a guess... How much free-play do have in your rear brake ? (pedal
drop before take-up) Too little and the brake will be applied when encountering
lumps and bumps. Makes for neat little tire squeals. Ever notice that the tires
squeal when a plane lands ? Same thing. Wheels not rotating at speed. The tight
rear brake slows the wheel down when it gets a chance (not in contact with
road) The explanation is that the brake gets way tighter when you sit on it...

  Subject: [Nighthawk Lovers] Tire Squeal

In comparison to just about every other problem and solution I've read about
on this post, this pales by comparison but I would be grateful for any help.
A while back, I bought an 03 750 with 4k on the clock and in very good
condition. The guy I bought it from had just put new Pirelli's on it. It seems
that whenever I ride over broken pavement, go over a bump, or lose contact
momentarily with the surface and regain contact, I hear the rubber squeak. I
didn't notice this when I got the bike and it had 25 psi in the tires but then
I thought they were under-inflated and I bumped it up to 32. Is this normal?
Could the tires be under- or over- inflated? (there is a max of 40psi) Are
these just crappy tires or what? Any insight would be most appreciated. Thanks,
Barge
