We looked at air filter. It was brandnew from the dealership. Can air in a carberator line cause this?

I had a 450 that did exactly the same thing - the air cleaner (filter) was drenched in oil. I rung it out and that solved the problem On Apr 2, 2010, at 4:55 PM, Judith Icasiano wrote: My brain isn't working. It is a 450 nighthawk. We did do all the things that were mentioned. Still not sure why that is happening. My hubby has taken the carberator apart and done some other stuff on the bike. When our son takes it out, it goes fine at 15mph but over 4000rpms it dies. It continues to do that. Can anyone give a guess as to what might be causing that. We did have a sticking brake but fixed that.
