Hey guys and gals, I just purchased my first Nighthawk and second bike. I had an 06 Shadow Aero that I ended up selling a year ago to get out of debt. Now that I'm out of debt I just bought this 1983 CB650SC Nighthawk off of Craigslist for $650. Wanting to try to know everything about it, I wandered on to Paul's website which led me here. Your website Paul is very helpful and thanks for that! I also found it totally awesome that you are a pastor at a church!! My bike needs a little tlc as far as cosmetics go. There was some corrosion on the aluminum accents which I cleaned up kinda. If anyone has any suggestions for metal polish, they would be greatly appreciated. I put a new front tire on it as the other one was dry rotted. Rode it a week when I first got it with that tire, probably not the smartest thing to do. I'm probably going to get the back tire replaced because it's a street/dirt tire, or half-knobby, whatever you wanna call it. It runs great. Though I'm finding a lot of things I'd like to fix or replace on it. A restoration project in progress. I plan to make the bike look brand new by the time I'm done with it. I am wondering, the original title said something around 21,600 miles and now the odometer reads 4600 since the engine was rebuilt. Should I have either of the hydraulic systems flushed (brake and clutch)? The main thing is the sight glass for both master cylinders are stained and you can barely see the level of them. The clutch also does not seem to be as touchy as the first week I was riding it. I've put about 400 miles on it since I got it 3 weeks ago. I want to put new master cylinders on both the clutch and brakes. The fork seals seem to be fine since I cleaned them. Anything else I should check on the bike? I'm new to the whole do my own maintenance on a motorcycle. I look forward to chatting with you all in the coming days. ~Matt
