jean pierre thanks for the advice i will need to check the wiring in the
headlight to discover which wire i need to put the switch onto any suggestions
regarding the location of the switch i suppose it should be hidden but easy to
touch , thanks for your advice if i try it with the headlight first and see how
it goes, i love the bike but the poor power is a problem especially in traffic
etc.

having problems with my power suppl on the 83 650 ie it runs out of charge
would isolating the headlight with a switch be of any benefit as legally here
in ireland we do not need to have lights on in day time would this use less
power and give me some bonus charge or is is it a waste of time

That doesn't sound like the battery, though the correct battery for
that bike appears to be a 12A-A.

Fraid someone else will have to give you trouble shooting advice. I
haven't had to touch the charging system on my bike yet so I'd be of
  little help. Good Luck

Have you checked all of your wiring? You may have a trashed wire somewhere
that could be grounding out. I'd start with visually inspecting any wiring
involving the charging system and branch out from there.

have always had a love for nighthawks even though i've never owned a
bike. he's asking $1,000 and i dont ever see any for less than that
in my area. as it is i would be driving 100 miles to pick this up.
opinions, thoughts? should i wait for the next one?

Will except best offer over $1000
For Sale: 1993 Honda Nighthawk 750, nice running bike, was laid over
about 6 years ago going 30 mph and dent in tank is still there as
evidence. This is one of Hondas indestructible inline 4 cylinders. 4
into 1 header which makes the bike sound good, still have factory dual
exhaust as well. I have taken this bike on a 1000 mile day ride before
and it did great. The windshield is about a year old and seat is in
good shape. Front tire is good and back tire is about due for a
change. Chain/sprockets have about 5,000 miles on them and fork seals
were replaced last year. Possibly take trades of small camper or 4x4
atv. Title is clear. Case guard on bottom of engine is scratched
up but it did its job when bike was laid over. Back rest has small
amount of road rash that I keep polished up so no rusting starts.
  Thanks, Peter

Be very wary of a bike that you know has been dropped. Mine
supposedly was crashed in a "soft landing" in a grassy ditch. I saw
some evidence of that when I bought it, but went for it anyway.

Even though it looked and ran great, frame and forks were bent,
requiring replacement of those, a wheel, handlebars and some plastic
parts before it was road ready and reliable. It's in good shape now,
but only after more than $1000 in used parts (+$1500 purchase) and a
year's steady wrench work. Unless you are committed to that kind of
  frame-up restoration project, look elsewhere.

I like the model too, and I did not buy it with resale value in mind,
but I did not buy it with the idea that it would turn into a money
pit, either. But it did, so be prepared for that.

There are as many types and styles of bags as there are motorcycles,
so it's neccessary to narrow choices down by deciding what uses you'll
put them to -- touring, commuting, running errands, etc. Do you want
permanent installation or no? Hard bags or soft? Expensive or
cheap? Saddle bags, tail bags, tank bags?

All have advantages and disadvantages. Hard bags are generally
expensive, that is if you can find them at all to fit the Nighthawk.
Soft bags are more versatile, but usually require some innovation to
attach them to the bike and get them to stay put.

There's one "system" I have my eye on for my '95. It features a one-
time installation of a rail to which you can attach several mix or
match accessories -- a sissy-type bar for soft bag touring luggage, or
a grab handle when not carrying luggage, or a rack and grab handle for
light luggage. The accessories are instantly interchangeable,
depending on the type carrying you plan to do, and they offer
specially designed bags for it. Kinda pricey, but very versatile,
seems to me. Haven't sprung for it myself, but queried the company to
see if it would fit my bike. They sent me a copy of the installation
instructions for the '91-'03 Nighthawks, so I know it will.

  Check it out here:

Hey all...there is a complete 1982 CB650SC bike for parts in Ontario Oregon.
The guy says that his son bought it to fix and lost interest. (carbs needed
done). He says it's low miles, dark blue, comstar wheels. It's listed in
Craigslist for Boise, Idaho....honda 650. His name is Dennis and his number is
541-881-1459. He has no title, thus the parts bike listing.

or a 650 that has done fewer miles, less issues. I see quite a few

Yes you can do it, or replace this headlight by a LED light. It's not
possible to ride with it at night at speeds higher than 30 mph, but by
daytime, it allows you to be safely seen by others in front of you. And it
saves a lot energy. I also changed the tail light for a led one, and the
turn lights. I did that because, in France, we are not allowed to ride
without the light on. That way, I could ride for hours without any charging
problem, which was not the case before.

Topic: LED tail light (92 NH 750)
  Anthony <[email protected]> May 15 07:27AM -0700 ^

I just installed two LED clusters from Custom Dynamics in my tail
light. I has to split separate the lens from the housing because the
clusters are 1.8" in diameter. I was able to separate the lens after
putting the tail light in the over for about 15 mins @ 210 deg. I hot
glued the clusters to the reflector. Put everything back in the oven
to soften the adhesive that holds the lens to the housing.

Here is a video of the taillight. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mhsqB3NQ25c
The lights are red in person, not orange as in the video.

I also have a Rear Alert brake light modulator installed.

Here is a photo of the clusters uninstalled:

Now that's thinking outside the box!

I have been kicking around the idea of doing that very thing, but my
thinking was to cut the plastic housing from the rear and attach the
circuit board inside the lens somehow. Yours is a much more elegant
  solution.

How'd you come up with the time/temperature in the oven? I would've
thought that much heat would either melt the plastic or damage the LED
  circuitry.

Did you use any particular type hot glue to attach the clusters, or
just the generic crafts store variety?

respected...

She is a 1999 CB250 with unknown miles (junkyard speedo from the previous
