Cruising rpms for me are between 4000-5500 higher than 40mph. Between 3000-4000 lower than that but I'm rarely doing less than 40 when not in traffic.
Guess there is a little more of me than you Joey. My 6th gear feels like it's lugging if I'm anywhere below 60. It is barley able to accelerate at all in 6th past 70mph. Though I've noticed the chain is kinking a little and probably causing a bit of drag at those speeds. Since I'm fairly sure it's the original chain it's getting changed soon. I figured on changing the gearing a little, perhaps get it to turn at 5400 instead of 5000 at 70mph. There is a wonder tool I discovered while researching all this a week or two ago. http://www.gearingcommander.com/ My stock specs on my 82 450SC are as follows if your interested: PDR:2.690 Tire:130\90\16 MPRPM:9500 FDR:17\36 CPitch:0.625 CLinks:106 1st:2957\1000 2nd:1947\1000 3rd:1545\1000 4th:1280\1000 5th:1074\1000 6th:867\1000 -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Nighthawk Motorcycle Lovers!" group.
