Pull the plugs and clean 'em.  They are probably oil fouled.  Also
check the airbox and clean out any oil you find.
Bike engines aren't designed to sit on their sides.  When that
happens, oil can migrate past the rings and get into the cylinder. Oil
can also go through the breather hose into the airbox.  Either of
those would explain the smoke and a reluctance to start.
They also normally leak gas when on their sides.  Gas will exit
through the float bowl vents on the carbs.  As long as they stopped
leaking after you got it upright, you should be OK in that department.
