Yes you're right... I hate that! ugh I know first hand ford does the same 
thing... they probably all do these days... 
 
Can anybody get back to me about where I can find the clutch tool for $12 or 
just for a low price in general? They do seem rather expensive everywhere I 
find them.

Honda seems to like creating special tools for cars as well: like the special 
tool Honda made so that the front rotors could be turned on the car, as the 
whole assembly must be dismantled just to get the rotor off.  
Made front brake jobs on those cars quite expensive, unless you went to the 
dealership, and then, they used their exclusive tool and turned rotors on the 
car and still charged higher than it would cost on most every other car one 
could own, but still making their pricing competitive with shops not having 
their - patented - special tool.
