As far as weights go, 10w-40 is usually sufficient unless it gets very hot where you are. Here in AZ, 20w-50 works best in the summer and is recommended by Honda for temps exceeding 105 degrees.
To protect your wet clutch, you may want to look for an oil that meets the JASO-MA specification. Some car oils have friction modifiers that can cause clutch slippage. If it meets the JASO-MA spec., you know you're safe. Some of these are Shell Rotella T and T5, Castrol 4T and Valvoline 4 stroke motorcycle oil. You can find them at auto parts stores and discount stores like Walmart.
