Slime would've sealed the small hole, but it makes a helluva mess when you have to change it

When I arrived the other day, My Dad says, "there's a roofing nail in your tire"! It was an inch in on the shoulder of the tread.(a spot with little wear since I'm not a knee dragger) The Shenko is only 9-mos old with about 3k miles on it. It's heavy & has a hard rubber formula.
Went to a tire place. "we won't plug/patch/ or install a tube" Went to the 1-remaining cycle shop in this semi-remote area. Same story. They didn't have a replacement either.
To add insult to injury, as I was carrying it, I bumped the valve & air squirted out.
Soooo......
Plugged the hole & put a thick bead of RTV around the valve.
Happy to be home!
