Hey Gene...I had the same problem when I first got my bike. I replaced the 
battery with one from the Honda shop and that was all I needed. I'm sure that 
for those who ride mostly in town where the charging system is not operating 
enough would also need the regulator/rectifier too. It's a good idea and a good 
investment (if you have enough scheckles). How much was the one that you bought?
