Have you tried the gap test? It should be able to jump a 5MM gap. What color is
the spark? It should be blue. Does that cylinder fire properly once fully
warmed up? My guess is that you're issue is fuel rather than spark. Pilot jet
is dirty on the #1 carb. It let's enough fuel in for it to fire occasionally.

Subject: [Nighthawk Lovers] '82 CB650 Question

Hey Guys! I'm a proud owner of an 82 650 NH. I just purchased it about
a month ago and I am in the process of getting it running smoothly.
The previous owner had stored it for 10 years. I am having a problem
with weak spark on cylinder #1. I have checked both coils and tested
them and both are fine. Wires are all good. I am getting power to all
the connections and still weak spark. The bike will run but cylinder
#1's exhaust runs cold and the exhaust smells very rich like its not
firing completely. Its got new plugs a full battery and new air
filter......Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I'm stumped....

Thanks in advance

Jim
