Since that was a pretty vague description other than "this is the next best thing", I would need some questions answered ... The most obvious to me - This really looks like a device that would only be really good in a narrow RPM range, therefore necessitating a transmission.
Airplanes and helicopters work in a narrow RPM range (as do diesels), but they can adjust the prop angle, essentially changing (a phrase i'm about to make up) the "lift ratio" just like a transmission (or so I understand, correct me if I'm wrong). With the improvements in battery tech as of late, a really efficient generator would be the perfect compliment for hybrid vehicles and the like; so the future remains to be seen... - JO On Apr 8, 2011, at 6:07 PM, Lie Njie wrote: > http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/42460541/ns/technology_and_science-innovation/ > > Anyone more mechanically inclined than me have any idea if this will > revolutionize motorcycle motors like they claim? 4x fuel efficiency increase > with "no transmission, crankshaft, pistons, valves, fuel compression, cooling > systems or fluids" sounds useful to me... > > Peace, > +Lie > > -- > You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups > "Nighthawk Motorcycle Lovers!" group. > To post to this group, send email to nighthawk_lovers@googlegroups.com. > To unsubscribe from this group, send email to > nighthawk_lovers+unsubscr...@googlegroups.com. > For more options, visit this group at > http://groups.google.com/group/nighthawk_lovers?hl=en. > -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Nighthawk Motorcycle Lovers!" group.
