I'm not sure about an online how-to. But depending on the seatcover it's generally as simple as taking the old cover off, replacing the foam padding if it's deteriorated (picked up from any upholstery shop), and then stapling the new one on making sure that it's stretched and aligned properly. As the previous owner of my 650 found out, it doesn't even have to be a motorcycle seat cover, any fabric will do, even suede *ugh*. It seriously looks like he chopped up an old patchwork suede leather jacket from the 90s to put on that bike. Looks ugly as sin, not the best in the rain, but the one benefit is that you don't slide around on the seat at all.
