Everytime I get my insurance bill for my 82 Nighthawk, I just laugh. Here in
Canada I have the basic coverage and pay $99.00 per year for insurance and
$70.00 for licence plate registration. For less than $200.00 Im on the road.
Undoubtingly alot cheaper than if I had a brand new bike.

One question that I have been puzzled about is that most bikes that I see on
the road are current models. What happened to all the older bikes. Have they
been destroyed over time in accidents or simply parked in someones garage.
Here in Canada, it is rare to see a 20 or 30 year old bike on the road.

I just started riding a couple of weeks ago and got $75 from
Progressive here in the Milwaukee area - Geico wanted $131, and others
were up there, too. Progressive has some good discount opportunities
to take advantage of (multi-vehicle, home owner (even though our home
insurance isn't through them), having taken a motorcycle safety
course, having the M on my license, etc.) Ironically, when I first
asked for the quote it was $77. When I came back two days later it
had dropped to $75; I tried waiting a week longer to see if it would
go down more, but no such luck. Still, I'm happy with $75 for a year.
