My longest ride was from Scottsdale Az. to Renton, Washington, via Ogden, Utah and up through Montana and Idaho (both lower and upper). The trip was a total of around 1,590 miles, done on a Honda 160. I was 23. Longest leg of the ride was from Ogden to Coeur d'Alene Idaho - around 670 miles. Beautiful country but the higher I climbed in the mountains the colder it got. I finally had to stop because it was getting too cold to ride without sun to warm me up. The total trip was about 1490 miles, actually, but I took a wrong turn when I hit rain in Flagstaff the first afternoon (left at around 1:00 PM from Scottsdale), and I had to go back, and stopped just across the Utah border from Page. I had gone a hundred miles out of my way. I was determined to at least make it across the border into Utah that first evening... Unlike this 250 Nighthawk, it was quick and I was able to cruise between 70 and 85 mph. It got around 90 mpg. Reason for the trip? To visit with my Uncle and also get on at Boeing. They were tooling up and recruiting employees at the time for the 747. Their temporary employment/recruiting building was standing room only, big as it was. Incidentally, I have purchased a VT750, with extras, and it gets around 60 mpg, two up. It is an '03. It has extra lights, and it is impressive to me that people don't pull out in front of me like they do when I am in my F-150. I will attempt to include a pic or two next time. It has cruise control, a feature that I find very handy, due to my right hand being partially numb, because it goes fully numb after a couple of hours of riding.
