I had bent an exhaust valve some time back and the thing still ran so I thought that I'd dodged a bullet and could just rebuild the top end. So the bottom end did have some damage that we were unaware of. Long story short I got this 550 out in the shed that I've had for about 9 years. It came from someone that we knew and the motor is rebuilt. The bike is a good donor if it will work in a 650 frame. I'm not sure how much of it we could swap out or need to swap out to make it all work. I can't remember if it was a 550 motor in a 650 frame or the other way around.
