Back in the 70's  driveing my cars on the logging roads out in washington, I
bottomed out a few time and put some holes in a couple of gas tanks.   back
then I used fiber glass to fix them..  if its in a place that isnt seen it
seemed to work pretty good.  think I bought the kits at Kmart.

Hi Everyone,

So the gas tank on my 83 650 has sprung a leak.  It's located on the
underside of the tank, right underneath where the bracket that lets
you screw the tank to the frame is located.  Gas is seeping out from
in between the tank and the bracket.  Going to talk with a welder
about the repair, but the liner a radiator shop put in it is
flammable.  Failing all else I may just pile on the JB weld and see
how long it lasts.  Checking E-bay for replacement tanks got me
thinking.  Has anyone tried putting a tank from a different bike on
their Nighthawk? Just wondering if anyone has seen anything that would
fit and maybe give it a nice look?  Hoping to stick with the tank that
I have right now, but will probably have to replace it eventually.

Thanks!

MN Blue
