Yeah, the 'police interceptor' model was available for fleet purchase for a few years after the civilian model was discontinued (for cops and the like) because a suitable replacement couldn't be found. One of the reasons they like it is because it could sustain a 70mph rear impact; which is exactly what happens when they've got someone pulled over on the highway. Mercury (aka ford) had the "Marauder" which was the 'civilian' version that had the big engine and brakes, but actually came with a real radio, rear seats and rear doors that open from the inside. It was a pretty sweet ride.
