I did many FOD walks in the Air Force.

I got hit on the side of my helmet riding at night doing about 45-mph by some sort of fowl.  All I know is it felt like a baseball bat & there was a burst of white & tan feathers.

And maybe a concussion. Lot to be said for windshields, no matter how

When I was in the Navy, we used to periodically hold "FOD" drills,
which consisisted of warm bodies, shoulder-to-shoulder, walking a
runway or aircraft carrier deck searching for items that might cause
damage to jet engines, should they get sucked into such. FOD =
Foreign Object Damage.

In the case of motorcycles -- or jet engines, for that matter --
pigeons qualify.
