I had that problem with my 650, and will have that problem soon with my 700. I figured I'd just pop into the nearest cycle shop and pop out 5 mins later with some grips. WRONG. Apparently the NH grips are longer than the regular bikes because none of the other grips fit. They were all about an inch too short. I finally found some from http://www.grabongrips.com/ that were long enough. I liked the foam idea too. For rubber grips that long I think your stuck going OEM or cutting the ends off of whatever you find.
