Put the lower in a bench vice and yank the slider it will use the bushing to
slide hammer the seal out.

Subject: [Nighthawk Lovers] Fork seal removal...how to? 1991 NH

Hi guys. Bought myself a 1991 NH as a retirement gift. Drove it for a
season to see how I liked it. I am truly in love with this bike. Now
that I am retired, I have the time to learn how to do more than change
the oil and inflate the tires.

Just replaced my chain and sprockets. This sucess has given me the
confidence to try another project. So I decided to tackle replacing
the fork oil seals. The left was begining to leak quite badly.

I'm at the point of having the fork leg off, drained of fluid, spring
out, top seal and circle clip off. I'm not sure how to remove the
fork oil seal. Seems like a fellow could easily damage the slider if
he tried to dig it out. Is this a DIY task or should I put it back
together, replace the oil and take it to the dealer?
