Hi Group, I purchased my 1983 Nighthawk 550 about a year ago to learn how to ride motorcycles on. After about a year of riding, I have determined I just don't ride it enough and it just really isn't big enough for both my wife and I to fit on. I was planning on waiting until spring to try selling it, but thought I would throw it out to the group now in case anyone might have an interest in it.
It is close to a 30 year old bike and it i looks like it is close to a 30 year old bike. It is not a show piece. It was a basket case when I got it and I did enough to it to make it safe an legal to ride. *Improvements from me:* New Front Tire Rear tire was replaced shortly before I purchased it New Mirrors Replaced ignition switch with proper OEM switch replaced the starter solenoid New battery New fuse block Added back rest Added an OEM Tachometer Added turn signals (OEM where broke off, I added some cheaper ones off of ebay) I have done quite a bit of work to it, but it is not a show piece, it is functional. The seat is pretty worn and has some rips. I stitched the rips together and it is functional. The bike runs decently. I have to ride it for about 15 minutes with the choke about half on before it is really warmed up enough for me to turn the choke off so the carbs could probably use some kind of adjustment. Here is a link to some pictures. I know these aren't great and will try to get some more/better ones up later. https://picasaweb.google.com/pmckinney4/October32011?authuser=0&feat=directlink I am thinking of asking $1,100 obo. I am located in Cuyahoga Falls, OH. If you guys have any iterest, let me know. If not I may throw it up on Craigslist to see if I get any bites or may wait until spring since not a lot of people are looking for a bike in October.
