Questions:
Why does it need a crankshaft?
Why do you think the gears are stripped?
How can a fried clutch damage a crank or gears?
Are you willing to part with $500 for a learning experience and a never will
run parts bike?

Subject: [Nighthawk Lovers] Nighthawk

hi everyone,

im looking for a few suggestions before i buy and start repairing a
1983 nighthawk cb550sc...

it needs a clutch basket and crank shaft. doesn't move due to stripped
gears (because of the clutch), but has new tires, runs great and kept
well. the original asking price was $800, but he came down to $500 and
will deliver (ill give him $20 for travel). the parts on ebay are
under $100.

he is an honest guy, probably just needs the money...like the rest of
us! if any of you hawk lovers could help, is this a solid investment?
or just a pain in the ass?
its a great lookin' bike...

hope to hear from you soon
cheers
