Welcome. That's a pretty specific question - I'm not sure if someone on the group has done a similar swap. If you can look up part numbers, here's some more things you'll want to try and cross-reference: - Choke cable - Throttle cables - carb boots from air cleaner
The control cables may attach in different places, and might not be a 100% swap. Even between consecutive years (at least 82/83/84 that I'm aware of) some chokes are operated by raising the lever on the handle bars, some are operated by lowering the lever. On the carb side, my choke is a "pull", but not sure for the other years. Not to scare you, but you may even end up needing to get custom cables made so both ends fit your setup. Other people on the forum have had this done, and it doesn't sound too bad. Depending on how far away your friend is, you might be farther ahead to just go there with your carbs and compare them side by side. Ideally, you would have him bring them to you and you can actually try to fit them on the bike. You may even find something goofy like the spacing between each carb is different and it won't even fit up to the engine. aaaaannnd, expect to have to clean and tune the new [to you] carbs to match them to a different engine. Search old posts or ask here - there's lots of good info about cleaning/rebuilding/tuning/balancing the carbs. I know it sounds scary, but it really isn't. Although the bike may run, it might not run at its full potential. :) - JO p.s. Got any pics for us of your new ride?
