This morning was pretty cold in the DC area as well. I usually check the
forecast every morning. Last week I started using my heated gear mainly
because I leave home early and I wanna to be more comfy, but I could easily
ride without it or in the lowest setting. This morning I did not look the
forecast, and I decided to take the NH since I haven't ride it in several
weeks. That means no heated gear since I made the connection in my other
bike. Well, this morning was around 32 F. Half way to my office I had to
stop on gas station to recover the sensitivity on my fingers. It is
actually pretty scary when you need to squeeze the brake leaver to stop and
your hand doesn't react because is frozen. I think there is a point in
which you don't realize your hand is freezing anymore. So if you are riding
in the cold, make sure to be well dress and keep moving your fingers to
help circulation or to at least notice if they move at all!

If this winter is going to be like this, I think I might trade one of the
bikes for a damn car.

Javier.
