On our side topic of battery configurations, I learned earlier that apparently the various hybridized buses that NABI makes have 12, 24 and 148v rails. One Hundred Forty Eight Volts! O_O
As I understand their paper on it, the intention with the 148v system was to allow easy modularity for the battery packs and have the possibility of multiple different voltage taps for lesser systems to keep the packs balanced. It also very greatly reduces the current sourcing requirements, if the motors used to provide that bottom end oomph to get those puppies rolling are 148v rated motors. I seem to remember there was talk a while back of moving the automotive standard up toward 36+v systems, to reduce current requirements, which would in turn reduce sizing requirements. A 24v motorcycle system would be interesting; you could have a starter motor that is smaller than your oil filter, yet turn over a 15:1 compression engine. :p -Kurt On Tue, Nov 8, 2011 at 9:42 AM, [email protected] <[email protected] > wrote: > Thats basicly how my boat is wired, except im using 80 pound 6v golf cart > battries wired up in 3 12v banks with a seprate starting battery (900 cca > for a 60 hp diesel)...
