Melissa, Check out the post titles: "Our First Ride". Graham I think put polisport hand protectors on his bike. That post includes pictures so you'll know what they actually do. You might also think about getting a faring that has had coverage. I know SlipStreamer makes one that others in the group have eBay Item number: 190597098164 has a good picture for you. SlipStreamers are really easy to install and swap out so you can have one for the summer and one for the winter. It looks like the handguards are $30 to $40 on eBay.
