Hello fellow bikers! I've just purchased my 3rd Nighthawk. The 1st was
an 84 Red/Black CB700, the 2nd was a poor pitiful little CB250 with
24000 miles, & now I'm the proud owner of an 86 CB700 that is a
complete "Basket Case", & I don't mean The motor's out, & the tank &
seat are off....I mean, if it could be taken apart...This guy took it
apart & labeled nothing....I have no Idea what was on this guy's mind,
but everything is disassembled...well, let me back up....he did leave
the tires on the wheels....Hahaha!

I've wanted one of these ever since I sold my 84, so here it is.
Although the odometer only shows 15,000, most of the parts look nearly
new, especially the tank, seat, fenders, exhaust, etc...but the one
problem I see this far is that there is a hole in the center of the
top crank case at the back, just above where the cases bolt together.
Also there is a broken shaft & a broken gear that I've managed to
locate in the box. All of this appears to be a problem in the
transmission

What I'd like to know is this... Is this a common problem for the
Nighthawk 700? or Did something like this more likely happen from
playing hot-rod?

Also, I have an engine from an 83 nighthawk 650....Can I use the 650
bottom end & transmission with the 700 cylinders & head?

Thanks for any information!
