For what it's worth, the Service Honda site lists factory part numbers that are very close:
83 550 - 175A1-ME4-000ZB 83 650 - 175A1-ME5-000ZA The exploded views of each look identical, except the 650 has a sender unit for a fuel gauge that appears to mount on the underside. The 550 doesn't. That might account for the slight difference in the part numbers. So they may very well be interchangeable.
