That pretty much jibes with most foreign countries I visited during my
Navy career, especially the third world ones.  In the Philipines,
Thailland and Vietnam traffic was very similar, with whole families
and whatever they could carry on Honda 50s.

But even more developed countries like Italy and Japan -- chaotic!
They knew what they were doing, but we didn't, so it was interesting
at best, and something to write home about.  Dangerous as hell if you
didn't adapt and go with the flow.

Fortunately, most traffic was fairly slow speed and easy to dodge, but
you had to pay attention for sure.
