Hi Granham (and everyone else), We pretty much never see a 700-S with 25K miles, for only $800.00, unless it's a total piece of crap, and/or needing lots of TLC..... (case in point, see below).....
I just got/found my brother-in-law a blue '84 700-S w/ only 9K miles, and price was $600.00. The bike has been dropped on both sides, and was sitting for amny years in a (apparently) damp shed. ALL the aluminum is oxidized, all the rubber parts are shot, and most the plastics are messed up (rear tail, and front fender are nice). The bike was not running, and still has it's original tires on it. Surprisingly, the gas tank is PERFECT inside, and after he cleaned the carbs, and replaced the bad solenoid, the bike fired up and ran perfect. A short test drive, and the teanny is perfect also.... We are now in the process of tearing the bike apart to make it look as good as possible, and hopefully will be mint by spring.....I've bought him LOTS of parts all over the internet, and he still has lots to go. His current total investment is $1150.00, and he hasn't bought any decals, paint, aluminum parts, or a nicer exhaust system (stock pipes are rusty, and need a nice set of stock pipes; problem being, if I find a nice set of stock pipes, I'll want them for myself!). We are hoping to have the bike finished for around 2G, and a LOT of work... In any event, I think he'll be doing great, to only have 2G into a 700-S w/ only 9K miles, but if you were to factor in time/labor he/we are putting into it, it would be well over 4G by the time it's finished.
