Yes, easily detachable, and a lap-top or many other things will fit in side (there's a strap to hold things in place too). The bags lock closed, as well as lock onto the mounting brackets....They are factory Hondaline parts, and next to impossible to find (only have seen a couple sets in all my years of collecting these bikes).
I personally HATE the look of the bags on this bike, as I think it totlally takes away the "look" of the bike, but like I said, they on't all need to look exactly the same, and these "Hondaline hard bags are the rarest of all parts for one of these bikes. I'm going to other garage to take some pics of the other engine guards; will post in a few minutes (to both blogs, since I somehow managed to screw up my first picture attempt again.
