Recently, my high miles (120K) NH developed a shimmy from 35 to 55 mph, that was most intense at 45... enough to provoke head shake if I released pressure on the bars. At first we thought the wheel and steering head bearings were the culprit, but all checked out OK. In fact, it was the tires, Avon Roadriders with 14K miles. While the rear was visibly worn, the front still looked good. The rear was creating most of the problem. Once replaced by Bridgestone BT-45s, all was calm again. If you run into this symptom, hopefully this experience will help.
