The "loud and proud" crowd doesn't survive too long on campus these days.
The couple Harley bikes owned by students or faculty have factory or quiet
aftermarket pipes on them, especially after two student organizations and
the Engineering Department lobbied the parking services to revoke one kid's
permit after he refused to remove his straight pipes when asked twice, AND
ignored $2200 in noise violation tickets. Another $1200 in parking
violations for having an invalid permit and the university seized the bike.

He tried to sue for wrongful seizure, the county ruled in favor of the
university, who had set the condition of full payment of back fines plus
impound charges (~$8k total by now) for return of the bike. I think they
still have it now six years later.

Any other "borderline" sets of pipes were quietly changed by their owners
after that.
