My petcock leaks.- I have the replacement 'biscuit' & I need to drill out
the rivets on the cover plate to replace it.

When I tear My tank apart to paint it. I want to check the vacuum diaphragm on
the petcock because I think its failing on occasion.
The bike will warm up & shut off abruptly. Seems like the gas gets shut-off
suddenly

If everything is correct the vacuum line should be hooked up to the horizontal
port. Basically, if the fuel line is off the carb, the gas cap is open, the
fuel cock is in ON or RES, and you apply vacuum to that port, gas should poor
out of the fuel line. If it doesn't, then your fuel cock is clogged, or you're
out of gas. Assuming you do have gas in the tank, I would recommend cleaning
the fuel cock. It's really not that hard if you take your time and are careful
around the rubber diaphragm. I took pics when I cleaned up one on my 650, not
the same bike but should be close enough for you to follow.
