I'm having a hard time picturing all the connections that you're
mentioning. There should be the main line from the bottom of the petcock to
the carb for fuel, and then a small vacuum line from one of the carbs to
the petcock to open the valve while the engine is running. There will be
another fitting on the petcock as a vent, nothing hooks up to this.
I've also had poor experiences with inline fuel filters. Finding one small
enough is a trick, and they deform after a while and begin to leak. As long
as the filters in your petcock are alright you shouldn't need one.
