Toolin' around on the Wing today in a suburban neighborhood.

As I was slowing down for a traffic light, my peripheral vision picked
up something crossing the road fast and I hit the brakes hard.

Turned out to be a pot-bellied, middle-aged guy on a bicycle, with a
cigarette in his mouth, coming down the very steep driveway from his
house. We avoided colliding by inches.

But he never knew that because he wasn't even looking at me. He
continued not looking at me, but at the curb he hit on the opposite
side, winding up up ass-over-teakettle in his neighbor's yard.

He got up, got back on the bike and pedalled off -- still no eye
contact -- cigarette still clamped firmly in his mouth, probly on his
way to the c-store for another six pack.

So I guess it's true -- God does look out after drunks and fools(!)
