   700s shift problem

thanks for the input, after i posted last night i was looking at parts

diagrams and some videos online (just to see what the back of the motor

looks like) and it looks like there should be enough room to slip the yoke

off the back w/o removing everything! I've been taking pictures of stuff I

won't remember as I go (electrical connectors, order of plug wires, etc)...

I kind of expected to have oil running out as I move the engine around, I

need to drain the oil yet, but I figured if I can get everything

disconnected I'll be in good shape.

I don't have a shop manual, does anyone know the torque specs for the

crankcase bolts and the torque steps/pattern when putting everything back

together?

as for the not shifting while stopped... mine had been doing that before,

now it just doesn't shift at all... stopped or moving, engine running/not

running... Its almost like something is preventing the shifter from finding

the next gear and its stuck in between gears. While I have the bike apart

i'm going to inspect the bottom end of the engine too, just to make sure

nothing is damaged there, so we'll see how this goes!

27k and change... I don't have the exact mileage just now, but I don't

think its exceptionally high? I know somewhere before I purchased the bike

it was dropped, I don't know what all was damaged, but I do know that the

fairing has been replaced and the left side engine cover has scuffs all

over the place..

Helmet law state - so seeing Harley's with helmet is due to laws, not
choice. Same in New Jersey.

Test all new equipment before use on long trip. Learned my lesson the
hard way.

No that would be awesome. The kids love the track and I just let them go
for a couple hours.

theres a lot a info out there if you google "my bike backfires on decel"

yea its something along those lines. but it wont backfire if its set rich

enough? how rich every bike is different? but then your mpg's will suffer,

if your worried about that.
