Hate to join the buzz-kill crowd, but the automatics had a rep for less than stellar performance.
It was a CVT (Constant Velocity Transmission). Shiftless, in other words -- a concept brought over from early 70s Civics. It was pretty much a dog there too. Honda hasn't given up on the idea yet, either. They've refined it for the DN-01, which can be shifted or not, depending on the rider's mood. But I've heard that model is not moving either (no pun intended), if it's still in the lineup. The one in the pic is remarkably pristine, though.
