Hi gang! It's been a while since I posted because I've had no questions...until now. So...91 Red Nighthawk 750...Javier knows it cause we met up for a drink in Cambridge a while back.
Anyway, I washed the bike, with a hose, not fireman style, but rather judiciously I thought. It was more of a rinse before and after the soap suds. Oh, and I cleaned the air filter with a damp cloth, and let it dry out before re-installing. I polished it (the bike not the filter) and proudly got on to take out to our local hangout, the Moto Cafe in Acton, MA. Now...I get all kinds of hesitation, loss of power on trying to accelerate, and it sounds different. Hard to explain but it now gives me a wild and loud Harley like sound and really hesitates and struggles to get up speed when I pull the throttle. It's almost like the sound of a muffler going bad. And strangely, it starts on fewer cranks. Added Sea Foam on a high test fillup. It's a little better after about 40 miles. But there's definitely something very wrong. What could it be? Electrical? Water in the fuel supply? Carbs? Fuel Filter? What should I do? Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.
