I had mine done by a lady in the church that had a upholstering business.
Unfortunately I did not ask for more padding on different foam. I wish I
had. Mine is pretty much like a stock seat and looks really good.

Should I be checking with upholstery shops or something else?

I had the seat on my '83 650 redone (with a bit more padding) looks stock
and is more comfortable.
A spare seat would be a good idea in case something screwes up.

Has anyone ever had their existing seat redone as opposed to replacing it?
The threading is starting to pull loose on mine, but otherwise its still in
good shape.
And I just learned that Armor All makes your seat very slick, any other
suggestions for treatment that will not make me feel like I'm gonna slide
off?

Contact Corbin by email or 800 number. They can tell you instantly.
Their customer service is pretty decent.
