Got a 84 Nighthawk 650 (CBX650E) and the fuel gauge registers full but then goes to empty after a few liters used. Popped the tank off, whipped out the fuel sender and popped the tin cover off the back of the sender. The arm connected to the fuel float had worn the washer that holds it in place and so in the middle of the arms travel, it was no longer touching the wire coil and so creating an open circuit. I simply bent the arm a little more so it would make contact with the coil all the way through its travel and reassembled. Total time about 15 mins. Searched a little bit on this group but couldnt find anything so i jumped straight in with just a multi-meter and a bit of common sense. Loving the bike!
