I'm always amazed at how clean and rust free bikes on the mainland are versus Hawaii. It doesn't matter how often you was and polish your bike here. They rust. I have friends with expensive custom bikes covered with chrome - they spend amazing amounts of time keeping them rust free. A 93 Nighthawk's exhaust will be rusted on the front - no avoiding it.
Next time I'm looking for a bike I thin I'll have someone buy it for me, ride it to LA and ship it home. Great excuse to do a long mainland ride but will get me a really nice and clean bike.
