All,
For those of you who didn't notice I was gone - that's because of Paul
and Kyle's excellent work keeping the group moderated while one man short :-)
Public announcement: Paula and I were married on the 10th of August.
After leaving the reception, we embarked on an international Honeymoon riding
the 2007 Yamaha V-Star 1300 Tour.
        Here is the route: http://goo.gl/maps/w6BnX
The first day (after the reception) was short - about 2.5 hours to our
first B&B. The next day was the longest one of the trip. From Blacks Harbor New
Brunswick to Port Hawkesbury Nova Scotia. 346 miles according to Google Maps,
my recollection is that it was a bit longer with some side trips for lunch and
gas and a couple of touristy things along the way. Now I've done trips longer
than that in a day, but not with that much highway speed to them - that route
is largely 110 KM / Hour (68.35 MPH) road and with the serious winds we got
into around the NB / NS line it was tiring. We also made the classic mistake of
stopping too much earlier in the day and not spacing out the breaks - so as we
got more tired, we had to go further. If I were to do it again, I'd consider
re-doing the route and possibly not making reservations ahead to allow us to
stop when needed. The original idea of the trip was to run the Cabot Trail,
which according to multiple sources is a great motorcycling road and quite
scenic. After a hard day in the saddle, this did not appeal to either of us and
we elected to go to the Fortress at Louisburg instead. The irony is that this
only shaved about an hour off the total drive time for the day, but it was in
the middle of the day so it felt better. The Fortress is amazing and was worth
it. A recreation of a fortress and town in 1744 they really bring it to life
for you. We'll go back - it was worth the drive.
The next day was supposed to be Port Hawkesbury back to Back Bay New
Brunswick - but we got off on a side tangent - the Village of Sherbrook Nova
Scotia has a section of town that has 1800s buildings original to the town on
their original foundations and restored to their 1800s appearance. Its another
living history museum and filled with folks in period costumes. This wasn't on
our original list of things to do and took us about 100 miles out of our way -
but it was amazing. As a result - we didn't get to where we said we were going
to and stopped instead at the town of Truro, Nova Scotia. Took a gamble on a
local motel and got a nice night of sleep before heading for home the next day.
The Garmin GPS routed us through Fredericton, NB on our way home, a
different routing than how we started so we wound up doing a big loop. Back
home for a night, we unloaded the bike, then loaded up with camping gear and
went to Bar Harbor, Maine, for one night in our new tent, a wedding present. We
did a couple of touristy things around Bar Harbor (which is a world known area
and is quite breathtaking in spots) and returned home Friday in the late
afternoon.
By the time we had done some more running around on Saturday, we had
done 1500 miles two-up within a 7 day period. I think she wants a different
seat for the back of the Yamaha :-)
We actually cut the Honeymoon short by two days - so that Paula could
get her motorcycle license. We signed her up before we left for the MSF BRC on
the 17th and 18th. I'm proud to say that she passed!

The search that all of you have been aware of in spurts to find her a
bike that fit her has been ended - we found a good deal on a 2001 Buell Blast
and made a deal. This particular Blast has the lower height seat and fits Paula
very well.
          Thanks for your attention!
          -Joey
