1984 Honda CB700SC Bike has been doing pretty good (minus the issue with the fork seals). Put maybe about 250 miles on her after the rebuild. Anyway, I ran the tank down pretty low (tank is clean), however it acted funny the next day, like a lean throttle hang. Picked up some gas and seemed a little better but I knew she wasn't 100%, went for a ride anyway about 30 miles then it sat for about 5 hours, came out and went for another ride and noticed I could smell unburned fuel in the exhaust. 15 miles from home coming up to a traffic light she pretty much shut off, went to crank her over but it was almost like a hydro lock, would do half a turn then stop dead. Pushed the bike off to the side of the road and called the wife to head down with some jumper cables. I tired a few more times to start it while waiting for my wife and the same thing would happen (like a hydro lock), I waited about 20 mins for the wife to show up, figured what the hell, hooked the cables up and the bike started right up and drove it home. Upon getting home I decided to do some checking. First thing is the battery I picked up is a super cheap-o 14L-A1 for 35 bucks, it seems to lose power quick if the bike doesn't catch right away (which is normally does, just a tap of the starter button) ordered a AGM battery and a special charger for it. Also noticed the choke wasn't fully closing on the carburetor, I correct that issue. So even with the new battery, and the choke fixed, I took it for a quick ride and she still just didn't feel right to me. After 10 mins I went back to the house and decided to check the sync, and it wasn't bad, just a little off but not bad. Shut it off to disconnect the gauge, went to restart and same thing, like a hydro lock but starter was still able to pull threw a few rotations (that AGM battery is nice), it sounded like it was out of time and I did notice the RPM gauge jump quite a bit like up to 6k even though the engine wasn't running. I did take the carbs off and nothing really to say over fueling is evident, no fuel in air box and the carburetor bowls are spotless (was thinking there would be junk in there if it picked up something from the tank). Ok so after all this I'm starting to wonder, do I have a CDI failing when hot? Jeremy
