You know the nice thing is that front sprockets are cheap, before you change
out to a new chain test the different sizes out.

91 Night hawk 750. I jumped up one tooth from stock and this helped lower the
RPM at highway speeds, but not enough for me so I bumped up one more tooth,
and I'm happy with that. If your running 55 to 65 mph and you want to make a
pass, I have to notch it down to forth. Around town I was really pleased. The
taller gearing allows the bike to stretch out between shifts especially between
1st and 2nd gears. In 3rd gear I can run at all town speeds with out any
further shifting. One thing that made a big difference was doing the Tim Hodge
exhaust modification. You can Google it. It only cost me 1 can semi gloss paint
and 8 stainless steel Pan Head screws. I drilled 5 -1/4'' holes in the baffels
per the mod. I gained more low end power and better economy. The bike averaged
40 mpg, some town and country roads conservative riding. The mliage jumped to
45 mpg with riding the bike hard! The sound level is a little bit deeper, but
lets face it, the bike still sounds like a wuss. I have checked the spark plugs
and they are normal gray color. So overall with the sprocket change and the
exhaust mod, I'm real happy with It. Good luck! Hondo.

Been looking for a drive sprocket. I can find 15t or 17t. Any comment on using
those vs the stock 16t?
