If you watch the Harbor Freight Tools sales you can get torque wrenches for $10
to $15. Not on sale right now so they are regular about $21. I have found
their quality to be acceptable+.

Subject: Re: [Nighthawk Lovers] Exhaust pipe studs on cylinder head replacement

OK, But I got anti-Seize compound for the stud thread end outside the head, and
I got the blue loctite for the size stud 7 to 8 mm for the stud thread end
inside the head. I was afraid of the studs freezing in the head with red
loctite. I will retorque them later and keep an eye on them (dang, now i can't
return my $40 Sears torque wrench).

Your expert help is greatly appreciated, although riding my bicycle has not
been bad for my damp spleen and protruding lower abdomen. But now I just wanta'
ride my motorcycle.
Thanks for the Pro techniques on a budget (6 each 7mm 1mm pitch zinc nuts,
Autozone $2.36 + tax.)

You'll see when you jam the nuts together they will lock themselves to the
stud. Then you can install it. Once it is installed just loosen and remove the
nuts, install your pipes and put the nuts on the collars. Use some red locktite
on the studs to keep them from backing out of the head. Don't torque the studs
too much or you can damage the aluminum head.
