Let me sum this up, and see if I'm right.

You have an aftermarket light that is both a tail light (always on) and
brake light (on w/ brakes). It is a recent install, and worked when
installed.

After a ride neither the brake light nor the tail function.

Does the box that drives your light have terminal descriptions on it? Take
a multimeter and check for 12V at the terminal for box power. Check for a
12V level on the tail-light input to the box with the ignition on. Check
for 12V level on the brake input when you (or an assistant set of hands)
apply the brakes.

If any of these three do not show a 12V signal, check your fuses and
replace as needed. If the fuses are fine, start looking for a fault in the
wires leading to the light module.
