Hi everyone, I am a first time rider (just passed my Basic motorcycle course) I
purchased a 1982 Honda Nighthawk 450cc. I am having a few issues.
-it idols verry rough the rpms sounds like its going up and down. If it isnt
warm I have to rev it every 30 seconds or so just to keepit from dieing. When I
rev it thd rpms go up smoothly.
-when I ride it, at about 3500 to 4000 rpm the bike surges and it struggles to
get past that rpm range, below that it rides fine and once the rpm jumps above
it it rides fine. Its like the bike just hates that rpm.
-once I actually get the bike going, and come to a stop the bike will die. When
I start it back up it still idols very rough so I keep the throttle on to
stabilize the rpm.

This is what ive found out from riding it for about a mile. The previous owner
said something about the carbs needing to be re-synced. However I dont have
much experience with this so I thought I would try to get some advice before
taking in to a shop.

So! Long story short. Does this sound familiar to anyone if so what did you do
to fix it. Thanks in advance for the help. Im really excited to get out on my
Nighthawk.
